Dusty's Birthday Weekend

Bear Claw (aka Dusty) turned 28 last month and we had a great time celebrating!
Of course cake and balloons were the first item on the agenda.
Stuffing ourselves silly at Tucanos was second on the list!

I had to sneak these photos in case they found out it was his birthday! He would have killed me if they had started singing!

We planned a camping trip for the weekend following his birthday and this was out first stop - the little acorn. This is one of the strangest places but the food was good! Look at how much fun we are having...
Don't worry it gets better!

On our way out to Huntington - of course I'm paying attention to the road!

We found this lake in Huntington by chance - I turned into the state park by mistake and we couldn't resist jumping in.

It was great to swim in a lake in the middle of nowhere...very refreshing in 100 degree weather!

I'm sure we got some strange looks in our underwear!!

Dusty was nice enough to carry me in so I wouldn't get my feet muddy - what a gentleman!

We then picked a road out to the desert not knowing what we would find. A few miles down the road we saw signs to an overlook and this is what we found....

It's called the little grand canyon and I can see why!

Dusty deciding whether or not to drive off the cliff - that boy has a death wish I swear!

We then drove down in the canyon and found these Indian rock drawings - it amazes me how old they are and how they didn't get washed away.

This was our favorite - it looks like an angel

We had to stop at this old bridge...it freaked me out a little to be on the top - not such a good idea!

Dusty using it as an obstacle course!

Caught mid action

We also found some tunnels that were built in the 1950s for government testing. We were sad that they were locked up - clearly they're hiding something!!!!

The government couldn't stop us from getting in this hole in the rock ;)

Our campsite for the evening.

To me, there's nothing better than eating a great burger while camping!

Bear claw MAD!! Is this how a normal person builds a campfire?? I'm not so sure :)

Doing a little rock climbing to pass the time!

It was so much fun camping but the mosquitoes were out in full force and I could barely sleep with 10 or so buzzing by my ear all night. If you don't know, mosquitoes are my worst fear - I swell up so bad when the bite me and they always do!!!
On the drive home we stopped by a mountain lake for a picnic.

It was a great way to end the trip and the birthday weekend!

You guys are so adventurous it makes me jealous! You find such neat, hidden treasures all the time too - very cool! Happy bday, Dusty!...er is it Bear Claw now? That sounds much more bad A.

How did I miss this post? Happy late B-day, Dusty. I can see you had fun. And I'm jealous of being able to just jump into a lake in just my underwear. A) It would just be gross for everyone involved and B)My underwear are nowhere NEAR swimsuit similar.
