Best of Summer 2011 so far....

Sorry I have been so slow in updating but it has been a crazy couple of months. Here are some of the things we've been up to in between trying to build our fence which has come to a stand still right now.
We went camping with Leisha and Josh one weekend in June and even though it was supposed to be out in the desert - it was so lush and green, thanks to the non stop rain, that it was more like camping in the mountains.
Here, Leisha and I are practicing our new code for traveling in a convoy by the great lake we found!

Leisha testing out her driving skills.....

Our meadow like campsite.....

I love this photo!

Having fun driving in the hills at night (it was quite scary at times since we were going to fast on the dirt road)

At the end of June we had a family trip to Kanab where everyone had fun climbing in caves and playing in the red dirt.

The guys arrived a day before us and had carved Tim and James' names in a cave for them to find the next day - it was really cute!

Everyone in the multi colored cave - it was amazing to see how many colors were in one place - the kids had fun making sand art.

Here is another cave that we climbed up to - the 3 Amigos.
Looking out from the cave.

That night we all pitched in and had a delicious dutch over meal.

Camping meals are always so tasty and fun!

The next day we set out to find the red rock swells - it was funny to see us all walking down the trail. We even got comments from other hikers on how large our family was.

Finding Lizards - James was so excited that he caught one.

Squeezing in - we managed to get everyone in one photo.

They are just too cool.....

Like father like son....

I think we spent most of the way down finding the best spots for photos - the way back was much quicker but we all nearly died of heat exhaustion.

We then celebrated James' Birthday with a yummy ice cream cake.

I think he liked the candles the most ;)

Then to run off the sugar we had a fierce game of duck. duck goose - I think there were quite a few injuries but it was fun!

The aftermath of giant marshmallows s'mores.

Then we topped off the night with ghost stories.

Completely passed out from the day.....

My plan is to post another one soon of France....

You guys go a lot of places. I'm jealous. You need help with your fence?

You guys do go a lot of places. I'm nervous about camping with Felix. I guess we'll find out this weekend if he'll like it. I LOVE The rear view mirror picture.

Do you ever stay home on weekends in the summer? I just have to ask...curiosity totally is getting the better of me. I am quite impressed with your energy, though. And really impressed with all the pictures you take. I love seeing them. Also? Those campfire meals DO look delicious.

Thanks Kory - I think we'll be ok but thanks for the offer!
Kelli, I hope camping went well with Felix!
Rain-we try to take advantage of the good weather while we have it so we usually plan to do something every weekend - that's why the fence is still not finished :)

I would love to come help with the fence! You know that websit About.com? Well they are looking for someone to write about camping. You write an article twice a week. They garantee you make a minimum of $500 a month but many of their writers make over $100,000 a year. Here is the link.http://beaguide.about.com/gdapplynow.htm
