The Joy in Camping!

Last weekend we went camping alone and at first I was a bit hesitant thinking it wouldn't be as fun but it ended up being a great trip (even though I sprained my ankle collecting firewood). We drove out to Joy - a ghost town about 40 miles past the IPP power plant in Delta - and had a fabulous time hiking in and around the mines. Bearclaw was even able to use his metal detector to find all sorts of rusty metal products!! I can't describe how peaceful it was, with the absolute silence, knowing we were the only people there for miles and miles - it's a really spiritual place for me......Anyway I hope you enjoy the photos :)

I don't know why you guys even pay for a house.

How do you find these places?

So about the book recommendation.. most of my favorites are serious, or "deep" as you said, so I've had to search. The only one I've come up with so far is Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. It's actually a series and the first one is called "Little Altars Everywhere".

You guys are really brave! I wouldn't dare go just the two of us. I'm not very trusting i guess. Strength in numbers?

Read the book, Good in Bed, by Jennifer Weiner. Kelli says it makes her uncomfortable, because she doesn't believe that fat people should be able to have sex. However, she doesn't seem to mind the occasional Puppet orgy. So I would give it a whirl. Just in case. Also, I really like your and Bearclaw's picture in the beginning of your blog. Very Artsy. And when I say that, I leave off the "fartsy" part, because that means I approve.

I am jealous that you guys go out and do stuff just the two of you. I always imagined that I would be like that with my husband, going off camping spur of the moment. or to a hotel. But alas we are not like that. I think the only time we ever do anything fun like that is on our anniversary. I am sorry about your ankle that is no fun at all, those are the worst! I read the book kelli is recommending to you I haven't finished the second one of it, but the first was good. Some parts made me very uncomfortable but they are good books. well written.

Another book I was thinking of recommending is "Something Borrowed". I hesitate to recommend it because you may think it's lame, and it does look lame, but I really liked it. Get Rain's opinion on it. It was a book club book. I liked it so much I read the second one too.

I agree with the "Something Borrowed". I also read the second because the first was good...and it turned out that I liked the second book better than the first. It does look like pure cheese, but you will get into it quickly.

Is no one going to say anything about a book called 'good in bed' by Ms. Weiner?! Nothing?! What kind of books do you people read?

Oh I think I'm going to have to read all those books - esp good in bed!!
If you drive into the desert you can find a lot of places that are like this and I love anything there so I highly recomend it - just take a lot of fix a flat!!

I just noticed you guys had matching outfits! (Black tank top and tan shorts.) I love matching. But Kyle makes me change when it happens.

Lets camp together.

We can eat vienna sausages straight out of the can and tell scary stories with flashlights held up like microphones. It makes it all that more terrifying when your chin's lit up.

Yeah... it's been a while since I camped.
